The pass is only available for use by genuine overseas visitors to Australia, including international visitors on working holiday and student visas. Proof of non-Australian residency is required and must be carried during travel for viewing by our onboard team and Authorised Officers. Proof of international residency is to include an international passport supported by a second document verifying international residency details or return air tickets.
Purchasers have twelve months from the date of purchase to commence travel. The Queensland Coastal Pass is non-transferable. The Queensland Coastal Pass is not refundable once a pass has been used to commence travel, if the pass is lost, stolen, cancelled or expired. Any ticketed reservation not cancelled before the scheduled departure time of the service will render that sector unavailable for future travel. Proof of purchase of a Queensland Coastal Pass is required when travelling on long-distance services. Available for travel in one direction only (either north or south) on all Queensland Rail Travel coastal long-distance services and Railbus connections in the one-month period. Customers may not backtrack to travel on an unused sector. A minimum of one 24-hour break of journey is compulsory. Travel directly from Brisbane to Cairns (or vice versa) is not permitted. Travel pass does not include Kuranda Scenic Railway or Gulflander. A separate ticket must be purchased for these services. Travel is subject to availability and reservations are essential on all services.
Travel is subject to Queensland Rail’s Conditions of Carriage. We reserve the right to cancel the pass and not offer a refund if the pass is misused. Misuse includes not complying to the Queensland Coastal Pass terms and conditions or the Queensland Rail Travel Conditions of Carriage.
Customers with a Queensland Rail Travel ticket receive a complimentary connecting journey using Queensland Rail City network service, on the day of travel only. This does not include the Airtrain service to or from Brisbane Airport, suburban buses or G:link light rail.
