Each customer may carry on one (1) luggage item in addition to the checked luggage allowance and it must weigh no more than 20kg (44 pounds).

Carry-on Luggage is carried at the owner's risk.
Customers may also elect to carry luggage on board as Carry on Luggage subject to weight/ size restrictions and luggage allowances. Queensland Rail Travel does not accept responsibility or liability for luggage or any other item or possession accompanying the customer placed in racks, shelves or other storage areas, on the floor, or carried or placed on the train.
It is recommended that customers check in larger luggage items (20 kg maximum) that they are unable to carry easily themselves. Onboard staff will only be able to provide assistance with carrying small hand held luggage (7kg maximum).
Weight and Size Limits for Carry on Luggage
| - The maximum size for carry on luggage to fit under the seat or in the overhead luggage racks is 23cm x 34cm x 48cm per item.
- Carry on items larger than this and up to 180 linear centimetres in size should be stored in the luggage racks at the end of the carriage where available.
- The maximum weight allowed for carry on luggage is also 20 kg (44 pounds) per piece.
- Carry on luggage must be placed under a seat, in a sleeping berth cabin or in the luggage racks provided overhead or at the end of the carriage. Luggage must not obstruct aisles or doorways. Items unable to fit safely in these areas will not be accepted.

| Spirit of the Outback - Sleepers | There is very limited space for storing large luggage items such as a suitcase in these cabins. Customers in these cabins are required to check in large items and only carry on smaller bags into these sleepers to avoid affecting the safe access to these cabins by the customers and staff. |
