What do I do?

If you’re on the train, you can enter qrtv.com.au into the address bar on your web browser to access the entertainment system.

Will connecting to the entertainment system via the Wi-Fi setting on my device use my own data?

No, it does not use your data. It operates via equipment on the train.

I am still having problems

If you are still having difficulty, please speak with our onboard team who may be able to assist.

Entertainment content

What’s on the Tilt Train onboard entertainment?

There is a range of movies, TV shows and music. You can also access the free Wi-Fi to browse the web or send a message.

Do I have to use headphones?

Yes please! Please assist your children to use headphones as well. Our onboard team may ask you to comply, please respect their reminder.

Are there captions and subtitles on the TV shows and movies?

Yes, there are captions and subtitles on most TV shows and movies.

How often does the content selection change?

We update our selection of TV shows, movies and music every three months.

I didn’t get to finish the movie, can I do this after getting off the train?

No. You can only access our content when you’re onboard the Tilt Train.

I got halfway through watching entertainment on an earlier journey, will the system remember where I got to?

No, it won’t remember. We don’t allow video streaming and catch-up TV from any external sources or other services that require significant bandwidth. You might not be able to access content on some of your regular apps (such as Netflix or ABC iView). We recommend you download episodes from your regular apps before you travel.

Will there be a consistent Wi-Fi connection as we travel?

The content for our onboard entertainment system is stored locally (on the train) meaning it will be available throughout your journey. If you access Wi-Fi for internet browsing for example, it connects via the local mobile network and dropouts can occur in areas with lower data coverage provided by external network providers (e.g. Telstra, Optus, Vodafone).

How secure is the free Wi-Fi network?

There are a number of security measures installed within the onboard Wi-Fi system. It is an ‘open network’ service, which is different to the one you may have at home. It should not be possible for other users to gain unauthorised access to your device. Please ensure you are connected to the right network address ‘QRT_Entertainment’. Ignore addresses like "Dave's iPhone" or "Angela's Hotspot". We suggest you always have up-to-date firewall and anti-virus software on your personal device.

I am having problems using my work/business email account via the free Wi-Fi

We use an ‘open network’, but some networks (e.g. Office 365) require a secure network. You may notice a pop-up stating “There is a problem connecting securely to this network – the security certificate was not issued by a trusted certificate authority”. If this happens, you will unfortunately not be able to access your account using the free Wi-Fi.

Can I shop online or check my bank balance?

We do not recommend you make online purchases or access online banking through an open network Wi-Fi service.

What speeds will I get from the Wi-Fi?

Due to the nature of data connections the speed will change depending on your location, the availability of mobile phone signal and the number of other passengers using the service. You will get a notification when you go to access the Wi-Fi via ‘Connect to the Wi-Fi’ on the strength of the local signal.

How much Wi-Fi data can I use?

All passengers will receive 1GB of data free per 24 hours to connect to the Wi-Fi and browse the internet or catch up on emails. Passengers who use their allowance will not get cut off, but the speed will be slower. You can watch as much of the entertainment content as you wish that is stored in the onboard entertainment system, as this is not dependent on data.

Can Queensland Rail Travel access my personal information?

No personal information is collected. For details of how Queensland Rail manages your data, please view our privacy policy.

Do I get free data on every Queensland Rail Travel journey?

Currently, free Wi-Fi is only available on the Tilt Train.
