Travel to the iconic Spring Bluff railway station during the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers aboard a heritage diesel-hauled train.

Operating daily from 19 to 27 September 2026, the Spring Bluff Shuttle takes visitors on a scenic 35-minute journey in heritage style wooden carriages through the Darling Downs to one of Queensland's most picturesque heritage railway stations, renowned for its spectacular spring gardens.

Return tickets for Adults are $22; Children aged 4 to 15 years are $11. Infants are free but require a seat booking. One-way journeys are not available. 

With only 318 seats available per departure, bookings are essential.

​Dating back to the 1860s, Spring Bluff railway station features over 160 years of history and beautifully landscaped gardens. Bring along a packed picnic to enjoy.

​Please note: Light refreshments, coffee and snacks will be available for purchase from vendors at Spring Bluff. Cash is recommended as mobile and internet coverage can be limited.

Two return daily departures from Saturday 19 September to Sunday 27 September 2026.

Morning return trip shuttle (3603)​

  • Departs Toowoomba at 9:00am, arrives Spring Bluff at 9:35am
  • Departs Spring Bluff at 11:00am, arrives in Toowoomba at 11:35am

Afternoon return trip shuttle (3605)

  • Departs Toowoomba at 1:00pm, arrives Spring Bluff at 1:35pm
  • Departs Spring Bluff at 3:00pm, arrives in Toowoomba at 3:35pm

<h2>Terms and conditions</h2>
<p><strong>*Conditions apply.</strong> Prices are per person return for seat travel only, subject to availability. Concession fares are not available. Companion Cards are accepted. Child fares apply for ages 4 to 15 years. Infants aged 0 to 3 years travel free of charge but must be booked in a seat. Bookings are instant purchase with no hold bookings allowed. Changes to tickets are allowed to a different time or date prior to the service departure without fees. Tickets are fully refundable if cancelled prior to departure. Bookings close 1 hour prior to each departure. Queensland Rail Travel reserves the right to make changes without notice. Queensland Rail Travel's standard booking conditions apply. Plan your day​​

Travel Information​​

  • Please be at Toowoomba railway station at least 30 minutes prior to departure to allow time for car parking, which is limited and to be advised seating allocations.  
  • Bring a filled water bottle for the train ride and pack a picnic for Spring Bluff. There are no water fountains on the train. 
  • Light refreshments, coffee and snacks will be available for purchase from vendors at Spring Bluff. Cash is recommended as mobile and internet coverage can be limited.
  • The heritage carriages are not air-conditioned but have windows which open slightly for fresh air.
  • Toilets are not available on the train but are available at Spring Bluff railway station.
  • Day packs should be small to fit under the seat. The size is limit is 23cm x 34cm x 48cm. 
  • Please note pets are not allowed on the train. If you are travelling with a guide, hearing or assistance animal, please view our Assistance Animals policy for details.

​Larger items including prams, strollers, walkers, wheelchairs​​

  • Book a Seat with pram, walker or wheelchair storage - if travelling with a pram, stroller, walker, wheelchair and other mobility device which will need to be stored. This is not an accessible seat. Customers cannot remain in prams, or wheelchairs while onboard. Note: if you are travelling with another person who has a pram, stroller, walker, wheelchair and other mobility device to be stored, you should all select Seat with pram, walker or wheelchair storage​, so you can be seated in the same carriage.
  • Due to the limited storage space, beach carts will not be accepted on these services. 
  • Larger items must be collapsible and weigh less than 20kg. Our team cannot assist with handling luggage items that exceed 20kg in weight due to Workplace Health and Safety regulations.

​Accessibility​

  • Our Customer Service team can assist customers when boarding and disembarking the train.
  • Due to the heritage nature of the carriages, boarding requires the use of steep steps and customers cannot remain in wheelchairs or mobility devices while travelling.
  • Access to the train is via steep ladder style steps (with 2 to 3 steps which are 22cm up to 32cm apart) and a grab rail on the outside of the train. There are no ramps to assist with boarding.
  • Accessibility at Spring Bluff railway station and gardens can be difficult. Please visit the Spring Bluff website​, opens in new window or Spring Bluff Facebook page where you can ask questions about access.
  • There are no accessible facilities on the train services or at Spring Bluff railway station.
  • If you are travelling with a guide, hearing or assistance animal, please view our Assistance Animals​ policy for details.
  • For safety reasons, customers with accessibility requirements will need to board and disembark from the last two carriages (I and J) at Toowoomba and Spring Bluff railway stations. This is due to the height difference between the platform and carriage at each railway station.
  • If a customer requires personal care, they will need to arrange for a companion to travel with them. Companion card fares are accepted on this service and can be booked by contacting our  Reservations team.
