Student and school travel

Students can take advantage of travelling Queensland by rail. It’s a great and fun way to travel to see the best of Queensland. We have great rail fares for full-time Queensland Secondary or International students, with up to 40% off the full adult Economy Seat fares on long-distance services. Prices to upgrade to an inclusive Sleeper or RailBed fare are available.     

​Conditions apply:

Student discount fares are available to full-time Queensland secondary students or International students aged 16 years and over with a valid student identification card. Children aged to 15 years can travel at the child rate.

​Edusaver school group fare

Discover Queensland by rail – affordable, fun, and educational! Give your students the rail adventure of a lifetime with an Edusaver fare. 

Great savings are available for school groups, with up to 70%* off long-distance rail travel in Queensland for journeys of 100 kilometres and over. Rail travel is the easy way to discover Queensland’s history, culture, and natural wonders.

School groups can receive great discounts with an Edusaver school group fare:

  • 70% discount off full adult fares for students
  • 50% discount for adults travelling with the group
  • available for rail journeys on the Queensland long-distance network of 100 kilometres and over
  • available to Queensland primary and secondary school students 
  • applies to groups with a minimum 10 students representing the school
  • available for travel in Economy Seats on the Spirit of Queensland, Tilt Train, Spirit of the Outback, Westlander, Inlander, plus on a RailBus connection to Airlie Beach, Hervey Bay, Winton, Quilpie or Cunnamulla where required.
  • Groups meals are available and recommended to pre-order.
